MEET OUR STAFF

Robert J. Wendell, DVM, MS graduated in a dual degree program, receiving a master's degree in cardiac physiology, as well as his DVM from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. Bob practiced in New Hampshire before moving to Vermont in 1990. He founded Aeolus Animal Hospital & Equine Center in the fall of 1992. "Dr. Bob's" special interest lies in equine medicine and surgery. He performs all of the equine anesthesia and cardiopulmonary monitoring for the hospital. Prior to and during veterinary school, Bob worked as an equine anesthesia technician at The Ohio State University for 6 years. Bob owns 2 horses, "Cato" a black cat, and "Babes" the Macaw parrot, who can be admired in the lobby of the hospital. In his "spare time", Bob enjoys skiing, playing volleyball and shooting sporting clays.

Joanne Tetens, DVM, MS, Ph.D., Dip. ACVS graduated from Oklahoma State University with her DVM in 1992. Following veterinary school, she did a large animal surgical internship at the University of Pennsylvania's New Bolton Center followed by an equine surgical residency at Michigan State University. During her residency, Joanne obtained a master's degree in equine upper respiratory tract disease. Joanne practiced in South Carolina before joining the equine surgical faculty at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. Concurrently, she received her Ph.D. in equine gastrointestinal physiology and pathophysiology (colic). In 1999, Joanne became a diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. In July 2001, she joined AAHEC. She owns two dogs, "Sydney" and "Willie" and five cats (Fritz, Karli, Boogey , Shadow and Otis). In her "spare time", Joanne enjoys cycling and has recently discovered skiing.

Carolyn P. Graves, one of 3 technicians, graduated from S.U.N.Y. at Morrisville in 1986 with an associate's degree in Equine Management. She has lived in Vermont all her life. Her pets enjoy the Vermont lifestyle. Carolyn has 4 horses, a Lipizzaner ("Apollo") and a Trakehner Cross ("Lily"), 2 yearlings, a pet-bull named "Norman", a cat named "Mocha" and a wacky but lovable bird dog called "Puddles". During summer, all her time belong to her horses but in the winter, she finds time to snowmobile and ski.

Danielle Poirer is AAHEC's office manager. She received a bachelors degree in business management from Castleton State College. Danielle started working for Aeolus in June of 2000. In her free time she enjoys boating on Lake Bomoseen and loves horses as much as the rest of the team.She now has 2 of her own. Danielle also owns 2 cats and a Rottweiler,"D-O-G", who is passionate about chasing shadows.

Jessica P. Meyer graduated from the University of Muenster, Germany Medical School in 1992. She is a board-certified ophthalmologist in Germany. After moving to the United States in 1997, she decided to leave the fast pace of human medicine and found a fulfilling and rewarding position as a technician, assisting Dr. Wendell with ophthalmologic problems. She loves to ride dressage on her 6-year old Westfalen mare which she imported from her home country. She and her husband also own "Oscar Meyer", an Australian Shepherd mix.
